The Drug Patch testing for drugs
ToxLogic is now offering a new service – the Drug Patch. Even though relatively new in Australia, the Drug Patch has been widely used in the US & New Zealand.
How it works…
The Drug Patch sits on the skin (usually on the upper arm), where the absorbent pad can collect sweat samples from the time of application until its removal. The semi-permeable polyurethane film allows small molecules, such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor to pass through the patch, leaving the skin underneath healthy and sterile.
The patch is applied and removed under Chain of Custody conditions and eliminates the testing gaps that occur with traditional urine testing,
Being worn continuously, the patch can detect even single-use events, as it tests for both the drug metabolite and parent drug. This continuous monitoring provides participants with definitive proof of drug use or their abstinence from drug use, benefiting both them and their families
Analysis
On removal (under chain of custody conditions) the absorbent patch is sent to the laboratory for full analysis. Testing for the following drugs and drug groups.
- Amphetamine
- Benzodiazepines
- Buprenorphine
- Cannabis (THC)
- Cocaine
- Fentanyl
- Ketamine
- Methadone
- Methamphetamines including MDMA
- Opiates (including Codeine, Morphine and 6-MAM)
- Oxycodone
Advantages of Drug Patch Testing
The patch offers convenience by allowing individuals to go about their daily activities without interruption and it eliminates the need for frequent sample collection.
It provides continuous monitoring for the duration of wear eliminating the testing gaps that occur with traditional urine testing, removing doubt for case managers and the court.
Since the patch is worn continuously, it also reduces the possibility of false negatives.
It is a non-invasive, tamper-evident and non-traumatizing alternative to urine testing.
When is the Drug Patch useful?
The Drug Patch, by itself or working in conjunction with other testing methods, can give a detailed snapshot of an individual’s drug use or abstinence. Our team of experts can assist you in developing a comprehensive plan for the individual or the workplace.
